In Memoriam

I have some sad news. I found out the other day that one of the moms at MSPN has passed away. She'd been sick for a while, and in fact, that was why she and her son, RajKumar returned to MSPN. On Thursday, while I was at work, I saw her in the nurse's office. She was on oxygen and lying down. I was told that she'd fainted. She was so sick that she couldn't hear anything. That afternoon, she was moved to the hospital. Her son was leaving MSPN on friday, to another center. RajKumar is currently in good health. On Friday evening she passed away. From what I've heard, RajKumar is surprisingly normal, but then, people deal with things in different ways, and he's only 9 years old. I don't believe there is a father in the picture. I'm looking into whether he will need a sponsor to pay for him to stay at MSPN. If anyone is interested, please let me know and I'll tell you the costs etc when I find out.

I wasn't close to her, but it makes the work I've been doing seem more real. Even though the children and parents seem so normal and healthy, they could literally die any day. It's a sad reality to face.

That is sad news, Jennifer. Your blog posts span an incredible emotional range from this kind of poignant reflection on an orphaned child and the fragility of life, to your exhilarating adventures (in the sky, water, tunnels, etc.) It's amazing that you can bounce from one to the other, and fully experience them all.
