Hey! So I started taking Malerone, an anti-malaria drug, this morning. I read all the warnings and stuff first, but luckily I don't have any side effects. Tomorrow morning, I leave for Chitwan, and the mosquitos there carry Malaria. Yikes! Plus, I learned from Chrissy, who got Malaria in Ghana, that once you get Malaria, you have it for your entire life. She told stories about how she was hallucinating and unable to move and might have died. So I thought, hmmm, I'll take some Malerone to prevent Malaria, and bathe in bug spray. In the US, I bought the highest deet content I could find. I'm taking the Malerone, as directed, once daily, starting one day before you depart and continuing through 7 days after you return. Malaria is a parasite and once it's in your body, it may sometimes be inactive, but it will always be there...
Tomorrow morning at 6am, I will leave for Chitwan National Park. Exciting! There will undoubtedly be loads of pictures of me on elephants soon! For now, I've just uploaded 230 new photos to my photobucket page. If you don't have the link, it's http://s376.photobucket.com/albums/oo204/veganoboist/ I'm going to put photos on facebook soon too...
Two new volunteers came to MSPN today. They seem really nice. And tomorrow is Backpacker Barbie (Christie)'s last day! And I won't be there! Pity... Maya will be in Pokhara for a week too. Sweet! Anyway, that's about all that's happened in my life since yesterday...
